sex change operations, artificial insemination, genetic engineering and other

The procedure by researches at
genetics and IVF Institute in FairFax, Virginia separates sperm cells by
female X chromosomes, or male Y chromosomes by measuring the amount of genetic
material each cell contains, before artificial insemination. The institute

innovations, the procedure is spawning controversy and ethical
questions.
Some researchers say the procedure
could benefit couples who want family balance and couples at risk for sex
linked genetic diseases.
They say it could also promote
family and human happiness. But concerns persist. The ability to choose a
child's sex could potentially be used in societies where one sex, usually
male is preferred over another, thus reinforcing the social and economic
